KeepKey is a secure Bitcoin hardware wallet that was launched in 2015. Like the TREZOR and Ledger Nano S, it is easy to setup but also has some more advanced features, making it a great choice for new and experienced Bitcoin users alike.
The KeepKey wallet can be used on any computer, even one that’s been infected with malware. It acts as a tiny computer that’s built specifically to store Bitcoin private keys.
KeepKey’s PIN code and number randomisation makes sure your wallet is secure in the event of theft and protects your cryptocurrency from hackers.
During initialisation you are given a one-time opportunity to write down a backup of your KeepKey in the form a 12-word recovery sentence. IT IS IMPORTANT to keep your pass phrase secure. If your KeepKey is lost, damaged or stolen, you can safely recover your device and your bitcoins without compromising the security of your private keys.
The KeepKey features a large OLED display to make confirming every transaction easy. Each transaction must be manually approved using KeepKey's confirmation button.
Initialisation and Backup
KeepKey generates your Bitcoin private key using its hardware-based random number generator. Once your private key is generated, you will record your 12-word recovery sentence.
Secure Storage
Your private key is stored securely on your KeepKey, never leaving the device. Your KeepKey is PIN-protected, which renders it useless even if it falls into the wrong hands.
KeepKey supports Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, Namecoin, Dogecoin, Dash and Testnet.
